Northwest FFL

It is time once again to play a little fantasy football but we’re doing things a little differently this season. What is different? That is explained below. Meanwhile, please click on the 2010 NWFFL Participation Survey button and complete the form.

1. The 2010 Player Draft Online Only

Yup, that is right, there is no live draft this year. Owners will need a computer, Internet access, and comfortable surroundings to complete the player draft on the ESPN Fantasy Football interface. The draft order will be conducted with at least one other league member present and filmed. The video will be posted on YouTube well in advance of the actual draft.

2. Defenses Join the Game

Time to shake it up and nothing does that like introducing defenses. So, teams will be adding a defense to their draft day strategy. The exact points earned by a team defense is yet to be determined but it will be something along the lines of 1 point for interception, 1 point for fumble recovery, 6 points for a defensive touchdown, and a yet-to-be-determined bonus for holding an opponent to a small scoring total.

3. Franchise Fees Paid in Advance

Franchise fees will be $40 this year but must be paid in advance of the player draft. Any owner who does not pay prior to the draft won’t draft. Do us a favor, don’t be that guy because it will effect everyone playing.

4. Trophies Still Exist

Just because we’re not meeting, no reason we can’t have trophies. The league will still pay for a first and second place keeper trophies. The championship trophy is a touch harder to move around but the league is happy to meet with any owner who wins and wants it on their mantle for a year.

5. Participation

Up to you. There will be some other minor rule changes to accommodate these revisions but the spirit and core of the NWFFL remains intact.
