Finally there is some sanity in regards to the H1N1 virus. According to this well written and factually supported article on WebMD, “H1N1 Swine Flu No Worse Than Seasonal Flu.” No shit. I don’t profess to be all-knowing, all-seeing but when the various news outlets, networks and alphabet channels got hold of this, it just felt … wrong. They forced the excitement, the panic, and continued to feed the public half-truths and commentary thin on fact. It was frustrating but I never got the sense it was real. This just about ties it up and I think I’ll stop banging away on what...

I’ve been a loyal Directv subscriber for many years because they provide better quality, better customer service, and an entirely satisfying experience for watching the glowing box in the corner. What can I say, I love the Discovery channel. Historically, I’ve purchases the NFL Sunday Ticket because “Everything else is passing time until football season gets here.” This season, however, was going to be a little different due to economic constraints. We tore through the first two season of the excellent, dark, well written and even better directed series… now we’re waiting for season 3 to hit the shelves. Based on the ending to season 2 (no spoiler here), it looks like the story picks up right at the point of departure (get it?) and continues on down the spiraling road of Walt’s life. Fascinating show and we’re looking forward to the twists and turns yet to be experienced in the up-coming story. If only they would burden me with the release date… what is it coming out?!

Dammit. Just when I thought it was safe to go in the water, Amazon is about to release the third-generation Kindle. Smaller, lighter, with better screen contrast than the previous generations, this piece of tech and gadget-porn has my attention. Truth be told, I didn’t think too much of the Kindle … until I bought my wife one for Mother’s Day this year. Man, that device has been a hit in this house. Everyone is trying to get a book and be the current reader… claiming the e-ink display as theirs while they knock out a book or two. I’ve been so thoroughly impressed with the...

I tried not to buy it. I mean I’m not a big fan of RTS (real time strategy) games. I typically get overwhelmed by the sheer number of units on screen, I lose track of build orders, and things tend to get… muddy. But Blizzard, creators of World of Warcraft, put their considerable bank on the line and crafted the second edition of Starcraft some 12 years later. The game Starcraft is an icon in the PC gaming community. It ranks up there somewhere with formative games like DOOM, Zork, Civilization, and Railroad Tycoon. Starcraft is used as the go-to RTS in gaming tournaments around the world....
