Kris?

Yeah, I let network TV wash over me now and again. Yes, I watch American Idol. Just took in the finale. Great 2-hour show, building anticipation for the big event. Stars, more stars, and then … then … Kris won. What the … ? Adam was clearly the superior artist; not even close. What a freakin’ let down. Kris was good but Adam was mucho gusto better.

New Star Trek Redefines the Genre

Sure, I’m counted in the Star Trek closet club. I watched the original, errr, not originally. I enjoyed Star Trek the Next Generation. Star Trek Voyager happens to be one of my favorite TV episodes of all time — what an ensemble class with some great plots. As for Star Trek movies, First Contact rates just behind The Wrath of Khan for top honors; however, this weekend I took in the new Star Trek movie (late show on Sunday night) and was pleasantly surprised. You won’t find any plot spoilers in this muse but I have some observations about the general tempo and fabric of the movie....

Windows 7 RC Cometh

Actually, the Windows 7 Release Candidate has arrived to much fanfare and ballyhoo. I, for one, have been looking forward to moving beyond the trials and tribulations of Vista and completely leaving behind the drollery of XP. Of course, everyone knew just how badly Vista was mauled in the Blogosphere. The press added their considerable weight to that opinion and Apple jumped on the bandwagon and kicked Microsoft where it hurts with some sharp and edgy “Hi, I’m a Mac” commercials. Where Art Thou H1N1?

Huh. Notice anything interesting the last few days? H1N1 or the Swine Flu has all but disappeared off the radar. Why? Because it was media-hyped and calamity reporting that went, uh, no where. We’ve had fully one confirmed death from the H1N1 virus since the media blitz over a week ago. For the record, that is the same death as was reported at crest of this exaggerated wave of caution and fear mongering.
