I’m new to the whole overclock-your-system thing. I’ve done some reading and found it to be pretty simply on the new Conroe E6700. So simple, in fact, decided to give it a try. But before having a go, I downloaded the free version of 3DMark05 and ran a baseline benchmark so see how things stacked up. I pulled a score of 14,383 which is pretty respectable.
However, after a very small overclock; moving the base operating speed from 2.73Mhz to 3.02Mhz, I ran the test again and was shocked at the results. I pulled a 15,300 and then noted the comparison to other systems.

Lets take a closer look at that for a sec. Based on all the systems that have posted on this website, there are 4,464 system configurations that are superior. However, there are a whopping 1,203,888 systems that are slower. Nice. Very nice.
Looking forward to trying the same thing. Downloading free version of 3DMark now and will post results both before and after. Very hesitant to do the overclocking for stability issues but will try and research it well to get max benefit without stressing the system. Like the site. Well laid out.
